Originally having studied physics and on a path in academia, Justin pivoted into the business world as a Financial Analyst at a small HR-Tech Startup - HireVue.
As happens in startups, Justin's role was quickly expanded from just a Financial Analyst to "Everything Analyst", where he worked with the Sales and Marketing departments on strategy and tactical guidance. What was the team doing wrong and what should they do more of?
Justin was involved in the due diligence and reporting process for multiple rounds of VC funding for HireVue. During this period, he also worked for a boutique, student-run VC Firm in Salt Lake City where he worked as a Senior Associate on multiple rounds of funding.
After helping HireVue grow from 60 to over 200 employees, Justin took up a position in SalesOps at Instructure, supporting their brand-new corporate LMS sales team.
During this time, thanks to his finance background, Justin worked very closely with the finance and strategy team pre- and post-IPO, identifying gaps in the business and strategies to close them.
A year later, realising the potential of their un-tapped international business, Instructure sent Justin to London to build out their international RevOps organisation.
Leading the Revops function in the development of Instructure's emerging markets in Asia, Australia, and LATAM, and the expansion into new markets like DACH, Justin fell in love with living overseas and hasn't lived in the US since.
Since London, Justin has lived in Berlin where he helped scale two startups through three separate acquisitions before finally moving to Adelaide, Australia to support his wife's pursuit of a PhD in politics.
After a year of leading the team at DataSpark Analytics, where he helped break into the AI-services space, he left to focus on his dream of working for himself as a Revenue Operations consultant, HubSpot expert, and fractional RevOps team member for startups around the world.
